When a marine and shipping client required a rental boiler package to maintain heating for a ship's crew during necessary engineering works to the ship while in dry dock, Watkins Hire were confident and happy to assist.
The shipping industry is firmly on track to reduce its C02 emissions per tonne-kilometre by more than 20% by 2020. The engineering works required to this ship included for the installation of an exhaust "scrubber" to the ships engine to help lower C02 emissions.
The vessel with birthed within a dry dock to enable full safe access ensuring that the engineering works could be undertaken.
Marine engineers on site had to complete the works within a tight 4 week schedule before the vessel set sails again.
A specialist dockside crane was used to position hire equipment near to the vessel prior to our installation.
